The Complete Edmond Hall/James P Johnson/Sidney de Paris/Vic Dickenson Blue Note Sessions (Mosaic 6-LP set)

This is an early, ambitious Mosaic set (its ninth reissue production). It brings together recording dates led by the core musicians who defined the Blue Note label ethos - four masters who comprised a kind of repertory, house band.

At the same time, each of the two Johnson-led sessions, and the ones by Hall and de Paris, showcases the leader's individual solo style. Johnson was one of the foundations of jazz piano while Hall had the most recognizable clarinet sound this side of Sidney Bechet. Mosaic didn't stop with these, though, making for a truly comprehensive set by adding three more Hall sessions, the prized Johnson solo dates, another de Paris one, and a stunning set led by Dickenson.

The participants on these sessions are a Who Was Who? of the swing era.

Box cover photo and box all-round in very-good-to-fine condition; booklet, which includes reproductions of original Blue Note covers and ads for the sessions, is pristine - except for Mosaic having put my name on the inside cover. (It asked me to review the music.) All six LPs in their original, rice-paper sleeves.

Buyer will pay amount as determined by destination and shipping method he chooses. (USPS Media Mail is cheapest; I will provide prices for US Priority, or for FedEx or UPS ground, if requested.)

Insurance is mandatory.

**For winners outside US**: USPS shipping options are International Priority and International Express. Both methods include insurance but only Express has tracking. If you want a different shipper, I will quote you the cost at end of auction.

Packing: I place single LPs in protective plastic sleeves, then reinforce the corners with cardboard. With box sets, I use bubble wrap to protect and stabilize the box inside the mailer. All mailers are the standard ones for LPs.

Payment: I accept Paypal. I also accept cash in cases of in-person deliveries.

Note on condition:  I grade records visually. Following are the definitions of the grading that I use:

N A record known to be new.  This includes factory sealed records.
N-   A record that's known or assumed to have been played. May have some surface scuff marks from removing and reinserting record in sleeve. May have slight spindle wear. Otherwise, appears same as N in all respects.
VG++ More handling marks visible than on N-, but should play like a new record.
VG+ No more than a few minor scratches or marks which are audible.  Such scratches or other defects will usually be described in specific detail.  Record will usually not have any groove wear.
VG More than a few minor audible defects, but no steady noise.  No appreciable groove wear.
