Description
Nice historic G&T coupling on Symposium 1014, Grieg playing one of his own pieces and Joachim playing one of his friend Brahms's Hungarian Dances, both from 1903, 12" vinyl 78. the Gried was originally a 10" master, pressed as a 12" due to limitations of vinyl presses when this re-issue was done. Markings visible in the pressing and shown in the pics are due to flaws in the original metalwork, not damage or wear to this vinyl pressing.
Offered here is a vinyl 12" 78 reissue of a rare composer / pianist recording and, in the case of Joachim, a recording of Brahms's great friend and collaborator playing one of his best known works, one of a series of collector issues from about 20-30 years ago, pressed from the original HMV/EMI master metals. Mint condition - test-played once at the time of issue, probably played no more than once or twice since, if at all and only played on modern lightweight SME 3009 arm with a Shure / Expert Pickups correctly sized diamond stylus in good, checked condition. Stored upright on shelf with other 78s (under enough sideways pressure to keep vertical and unwarped but not sufficient to cause damage) in a centrally heated pet- and smoke-free home. Some dust but no marks, nicks, scratches etc.
