Description
This lot contains eight 10-inch 78 RPM records featuring Bob Crosby, all on the Decca label, and all (as noted individually in parentheses below) considered "hot" enough for inclusion in Brian Rust's iconic Hot Jazz Discography. All eight records showed up for the first picture, then they are shown in pairs, both sides, in the following order. Tracks are instrumental unless a vocalist is stated.
Decca # 2657 -- "Over the Rainbow" and "You and Your Love" by Bob Crosby and His Orchestra, with vocals by Teddy Grace. (Both sides listed in Rust, with recording dates in July, 1939.)
Decca # 3179 -- "I'm Nobody's Baby" and "Speak Easy" by Bob Crosby and His Orchestra, with vocals by Marion Mann on Side One only. (Both sides listed in Rust, with a recording dates of April 3, 1940.)
Decca # 2205 -- "Summertime (Bob Crosby's Theme Song)" and "What's New" by Bob Crosby and His Orchestra. (Both sides listed in Rust, with recording dates in October, 1938.)
Decca # 2935 -- "Between 18th and 19th on Chestnut Street" and "I Wanna Wrap You up (and Take You Home with Me)" by Bob Crosby and His Orchestra, with vocals by Eddie Miller and Nappy LaMar on Side One and by Teddy Grace on Side Two. (Both sides listed in Rust, with a recording date of December 6, 1939.)
Decca # 4169 -- "A Zoot Suit (for My Sunday Gal)" and "Barrelhouse Bessie from Basin Street" by Bob Crosby and His Orchestra, with vocals by Nappy Lamare on Side One and by Eddie Miller on Side Two. (Both sides listed in Rust, with a recording date of January 20, 1942.)
Decca # 2282 -- "Skaters' Waltz" and "Eye Opener" by Bob Crosby and His Orchestra. (Both sides listed in Rust, with a recording date of January 23, 1939.)
Decca # 3668 -- "Sweet Genevieve" and "Until You Fall in Love" by Bob Crosby and His Orchestra, with vocals by Bob Crosby on Side 1 and by Bob Crosby and the Bob-o-Links on Side 2. (Both sides listed in Rust, with recording dates in March and December, 1940, respectively.)
Decca # 1600 -- "Martha, Ah So Pure" and "Home on the Range" by Connie Boswell with Bob Crosby's Bob Cats. (Both sides listed in Rust, with a recording date of November 13, 1937.)
They could all use a good cleaning, but are otherwise in are in lightly to moderately played condition, most of them still relatively shiny, but with varying degrees of visible surface wear, the most heavily played being Decca # 3668. There were forward skips on both sides of Decca # 2657, but the other seven played through without skipping or repeating on my Audio-Technica turntable, and with varying degrees of background noise (Decca # 3668 being by far the worst), including some pops and clicks and short passages of ticking. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well they will play on your equipment. Please check the pictures for any label damage or inscriptions or stickers.
