Ideal for collectors!! First press in TOP SHAPE!! Essential Folkways album documenting a storming church service recorded in Buffalo by WH Tallmadge.
This little blurb from the Folkways website describes the album perfectly:
“No use letting the Devil have all the good tunes” proclaims Elder Charles Beck, pastor of the Way of the Cross Church of God in Christ, in Buffalo, NY. Playing trumpet, vibes, and drums, Elder Beck presides over a lively service filled with hymns, gospel songs, shouts, sermonizing, and prayer. Organ, piano, and tambourines, along with guest performers, also enliven the proceedings.
William H. Tallmadge, professor at the State University of New York in Buffalo, recorded the service on December 30–31, 1956, and wrote the liner notes, emphasizing the links of Holiness services to African religious practice.
So hard to find one of these in such decent shape and with the booklet as well!!

Disc is NM : no surface marks, looks and sounds great!!
Sleeve is VG+ : corners a little rounded, spine partially legible and a little faded, small tear on front slick bottom right, card divider still present and attached, nice shape overall!!
Booklet is VG++ : numbers written on front top right otherwise lovely shape, all pages intact, no tears or big creases!!
