Jimi Hendrix - "Electric Jimi Hendrix" UK Track Fanclub Only Withdrawn LP
You are bidding on one of the most impossibly rare UK LP's of all time, and possibly the rarest Jimi Hendrix LP to ever exist. This record needs no introduction. If you are a serious Hendrix collector, you know exactly what this is.
STORAGE
Since I came in to own this album nearly 15 years ago, I have made sure it was stored in only the best environments. I have kept the vinyl stored in a Mobile Fidelity audiophile sleeve OUTSIDE OF THE COVER to avoid any further wear to the original sleeve. I have stored the cover with two sturdy cardboard spacers on either side in order to keep it firm and flat.
ALBUM COVER GRADING
I would rate the front cover of the album as VG+. It still has some of the original sheen, and the unique silver printing of Jimi's face is still reflective. There is some light ringwear. The corners are dinged but seams are not split or torn. This iconic cover would look beautiful in a frame to crown your collection of rare records.
The back cover is in VG condition. As you can see in the photos there are two places where the black printing has pealed off. On the lower one there is a 1 inch piece, including the "L" from "Little Miss Strange" that is still attached but torn. There are some crease marks on the back cover as well as light ring wear, but again, no tears or splits.
The spine is worn, but the printing is still mostly legible. Again, there are no splits to the spine, just shelf wear. Their is a half inch on the top and the bottom of the spine where the printing has worn off.
INCLUDED IS THE ORIGINAL UK BRITISH PATENT INNER SLEEVE! The vinyl has been stored in a top grade Mobile Fidelity Audiophile sleeve, but I have preserved the original UK sleeve inside the jacket.
VINYL GRADING
The vinyl is in VG- VG+ condition. There is wear and several surface scuffs and sleeve wear throughout both sides, however there are NO JUMPS OR SKIPS WHATSOEVER. The vinyl still maintains some of it's sheen, and plays flat and smoothly without any warping. There is some spindle marks on both sides of the label. Other than that the labels are in top shape.
I have play graded the entire album at high volume, and have found it to still sound INCREDIBLE. Yes, there is surface noise and the odd pop and tick throughout. But the vinyl still holds much of its greatness. The surface noise heard when the needle drops on both sides is largely blown away by the incredible (and loud!) stereo mix. I would say a good portion of the record plays at VG+. There stereo separation is OUTSTANDING. Listening to this one last time made me completely re-think letting this one go!
I have cherished this LP as the crown jewel of my record collecting passion for many many years. If circumstances weren't forcing me to, I would never be letting it go. I hope the winner of this auction cherishes it as much as I have. It is truly a holy grail item. Though it is not in top condition, it is still an excellent example, and over many research I've come to the understanding that only 200-500 copies actually made it out before it was withdrawn. Meaning far fewer than that must still exist.
Best of luck, and happy bidding, from one collector to another!
