Scarce lp with fantastic early musique concrete spliced tape compositions, most created at the University of Toronto Electronic Music Studio using Hugh Le Caine's pre-synthesizer early electronic instrument inventions. Le Caine's own Dripsody, probably the first electronic work produced in Canada, is made entirely out of the sound of a single drop of water. Ivey's track was derived from field recordings of pinball machines. Schaeffer uses the Hamograph ("A New Amplitude Rhythm Control Device") in his piece. Includes insert. Highly recommended.

Le Caine was a physicist who became an influential early electronic instrument inventor from the late 1940s onward (Sackbut Synthesizer, Touch Sensitive Organ, etc.); he was an important teacher of Pauline Oliveros and was influenced by the work of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (including Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry, Francois Bayle, and Luc Ferrari). • Robb was a composer, attorney, arts administrator, and ethno-musicologist; he studied under Horatio Parker, Darius Milhaud, Roy Harris, Paul Hindemith and Nadia Boulanger, and was known for his experimental electronic releases on Folkways and his work researching and archiving Hispanic-American folk music. • Myron Schaeffer developed and ran the University of Toronto Electronic Music Studio and was also a Latin American folk music researcher. • Grauer worked with Alan Lomax studying and recording folk and primitive music around the world. • Will be of interest to fans of Vladimir Ussachevsky, Otto Luening, Tod Dockstader, Ilhan Mimaroglu, Jon Appleton, Rune Lindblad, Dick Raaijmakers, Bernard Parmegiani, John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Herbert Eimert, Mauricio Kagel, etc.

Please note that First Class Airmail usually takes about 2 weeks and is uninsured. Packing I pack professionally and with the utmost care drawn from years of experience trading vinyl internationally. I use new record mailers which I have determined are the best and most protective, reinforced with cardboard inserts and bubble wrap padding. All records are shipped with poly plastic sleeves and with the vinyl outside of the cover to prevent damage. All packages are completely sealed with strong packing tape covering all openings. Unless requested, no paper invoice is included in the package, both to save trees and to avoid customs difficulties. If you'd like your package done any differently, just let me know.
