Elton John Duets Ultra RARE U.K. Double LP Pressing + Inners Cohen Kiki Dee EX

ULTRA RARE Original 1993 U.K. Rocket Record Company DBL L.P. pressing of Elton John's 'Duets' album (Catalogue Reference: The Rocket Record Company 518 478-1).  This consists of a single sleeve containing two lps which in turn are contained within individual inner sleeves.  Now we all know how rare these lps are.  I'd be surprised if they were selling one copy of this for every 500 CDs they shifted.  When this album was released vinyl was so out-of-favour that if an album was released on vinyl it was only as a limited pressing.  This is a really solid copy!  As usual with these things I'd guess the first record has been played a couple of times but the second record has probably been played once.  I'm conservatively grading the overall condition of the vinyl as EXCELLENT condition (however, the second record probably grades higher than this).  The sleeve is graded as being in EXCELLENT+ condition.  Considering this is supposed to hold two lps it is pretty thin and flimsy which makes its survival in this kind of condition twenty years later pretty miraculous.  The inners are basically immaculate (a clear indication that this copy has barely been played).  The only flaw I note on the inners is a couple of fingerprints which could most likely be removed.  The inners are graded as being in NEAR MINT condition (more condition details below).

Condition

L.P. Sleeve & Inners

This is a great looking copy of this set.  The L.P. sleeve is graded as being in EXCELLENT+ condition.  As noted above this is a flimsy sleeve considering it needs to contain two lps (an example of cost-cutting because in reality they really didn't want to waste money on pressing vinyl at this time).  I would say there is only very minimal ring-wear (only really visible when the sleeve is angled under a light) and each corner has received a light knock resulting in limited fraying on a couple of the corners.  I believe these are the only flaws worth mentioning.  Aside from a couple of fingerprints the Inner Sleeves are basically immaculate.  There are no bends, creases, tears etc.  The Inners are graded as being in NEAR MINT condition.  Probably the best-looking copy of this you are likely to find!

Vinyl

The vinyl is conservatively graded as being in EXCELLENT condition.  Under an intense light limited hairline scratches are visible on each of the four surfaces.  It seems obvious to me that the first record has seen more play than the second record which is fairly typical.  There is what I believe to be a superficial spindle drag on the edge of the playing surface on Side Three (superficial in that it cannot be felt or heard).  It measures a couple of millimeters.  On the same side there is also a mark on the very rim which is absolutely nothing to worry about and which is (I'd guess) a product of the manufacturing process.  This is a super copy which is conservatively graded.

Concluding Remarks

A very hard record to find and you'll really struggle to find a superior copy!  These early 90s Elton John lps are very rare on vinyl.  Please check my other auctions for further rare items in similarly immaculate condition.  Save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!

I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years now and regard myself as a conservative grader.  I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor (!).  As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself.  I endeavour to be accurate with my grading and all items are graded under an intense light.  Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself. 

Returns Policy

Payment Methods

Domestic buyers can pay via Cheque, PayPal or Postal Order.  Overseas buyers are always welcome and are required to pay via PayPal.  Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.

Postage Costs

I have had to bring my service in-line with changes to Royal Mail Terms and Conditions effective of April 2013.  Previously items sent via standard post were automatically covered up to the value of £46.00 however, standard postage now only covers items up to the value of £20.00.  Items with an opening value >£20.00 will include domestic Signed For postage costs automatically.  Items with an opening value <=£20.00 and which complete with a value <=£20.00 will continue to be dispatched via standard post unless otherwise agreed (i.e. the buyer indicates a preference otherwise).  Items which have an opening value <=£20.00 but whose final value is >£20.00 will be subject to enhanced postage costs in order to cover the extra insurance which is required.  I hope this is as straightforward as I can make it?  Ultimately, please don’t make payment until you’ve received an invoice from me and if you aren’t happy with the invoice you receive then I’m always open to discussion.  Buyers should be aware that both Ebay and PayPal take a % of postage charges (i.e. they are higher than I’d ideally want them to be).

Multiple purchases will be subject to consolidated postage costs.  I will contact you at the end of the auction to confirm these costs.
