Description
THE BREAD & BEER BAND - 'DICK BARTON THEME (DEVIL'S GALLOP)'
The Bread and Beer Band was: Reg Dwight (Elton John) on piano, Bernie Calvert of The Hollies on bass, Caleb Quaye on guitar, Roger Pope on drums and Lennox Jackson on percussion.
Produced by Tony King, the single featured the theme song which had originally been the theme song of a highly successful 1940's BBC drama series which followed the adventures of ex-Commando Captain Richard Barton who, with his mates Jock Anderson and Snowy White solved all sorts of crimes, escaped from dangerous situations and saved the nation from disaster time and again.
This immaculate DEMONSTRATION copy dates from just prior to its 1972 reissue on the purple & white Decca demo label: F 13354

Stamper codes: 1/B & 1/B (earliest possible stampers)
