Description
Elvis Presley
Titled "Elvis Presley" and copyright dated 1956 this album is from the early days of Elvis's career and also RCA's production and promotion of 45's. The album was issued in "Extended Play" format and consists of two 7" 45 speed records with two songs on each side. The folding jacket includes several black and white photos of Elvis and interesting liner notes about his rapid rise to fame up to that time. The recordings of these 8 great songs were made using RCA's "New Orthophonic High Fidelity" technology which produced real high-fidelity that still sounds wonderful. Analog sound pressed onto vinyl offers all of the rich warmth and tonality originally intended and is how Elvis heard this album. When played thru modern equipment what is noticeable about this recording is its absolute clarity and the extremely wide dynamic range. The eight songs are:

The photos illustrate the near mint condition of the album jacket. There is normal wear to the front and back surfaces of the jacket with only very slight yellowing at the edges of the record slots (visible with the jacket open) and along the outside of the spline (visible with the jacket closed). The spline hinge as well as the tops and bottoms of the record slots have no tears or disintegration. Near the top left corner of the front is an owner's name label.
Condition of the records is also near mint. The records have been tested on a B&O turntable with a tangential tracking arm using a stylus force of 1.5 grams. It is very sensitive and easily reveals any flaws in record grooves. Both records play very well. There are no heavy scratches, no loud repeating pop-like sounds, no skips, and the vinyl is not dull and grayed from heavy wear. When playing there is extremely slight vinyl surface noise that is normal. The only noticeable issue is on the song 'I'll Never Let You Go' where there is an area about half way thru the song where a very light "tick" sound repeats about six times and later in the song it repeats twice.
The labels show normal wear, which is why the grooves are in such good condition. To protect the fine micro grooves of 45's RCA thickened the vinyl under the paper labels to raise them higher so that they would take the brunt of handling. On one side of each record (Sides 1 & 3) are owner's name labels.
