ELVIS PRESLEY - "A DATE WITH ELVIS" (LPM-2011) - A FULLY COMPLETE ORIGINAL ALBUM, INCLUDING THE ULTRA-RARE "ALCOA WRAP" BANNER FROM 1959!
RECORD: EXCELLENT and just a whisper from NM- with super glossy surfaces! This record has obviously been adult-owned since new. It has seen little play or handling. Very clean, glossy original surfaces but with some very light paper sleeve scuffs. This record should play like new! The labels on this Rockaway pressing are beautiful, with just a few very light spindle marks. The engraved matrix numbers end with 6S/6S.
COVER: EXCELLENT and very rare this nice! Unlike about 90% of these covers, there are NO seam splits! This is a fully original, fully intact cover with no tape, writing or any other detractions whatsoever! The only reason that it misses the NM grade is due to simple, honest wear. A stress mark on the front from removing the record, some light soiling on the spine along with some wear that has rubbed off the last "1" of the record number at the base along with some extremely light surface scuffing from contact with other albums are the stated items of wear. Very minor corner wear is noticed as well. The Red Sticker is nearly pristine with no check marks beside any of the songs. The inside of the Gatefold is nearly as pristine as the day it left the Rockaway plant in 1959! Very glossy with the only detraction being a tiny corner crease at the top of the slick from insufficient adhesive being applied. This is a honest to goodness high-end album. Add it to your collection today!
ALCOA WRAP BANNER: Is all there, but there is a wrinkle along with a couple of edge tears from being on the album. Someone had attempted to repair a couple of tears with tape. These banners are EXTREMELY RARE, as indicated by the $750 value (in Near Mint, of course) that Jerry Osborne has placed on it in his "Presleyana VII". It is easily assumed that 95% of these went into the trash receptacles across the country, along with the loose baggies that these LP's came in when purchased new in 1959. This one did survive, although it is NOT Near Mint.
BONUS ALBUM: I am including RCA Victor SP-33-50, which is a promotional album in conjunction with Breck, titled "BRECK Introduces the RCA Victor New Golden Age of Sound Albums". The record is NEAR MINT and the interesting thing about it is the fact that the Side 1 label is standard Black and the Side 2 label is the "Red Seal" RCA Victor label! Unfortunately, none of the songs selected for this record include anything by Elvis Presley. The outer slicks of this album are shiny gold and is the same material as the rare banner, "Alcoa Wrap"! This album shows "A DATE WITH ELVIS" as one of the albums in the "New Golden Age Of Sound Albums" (please see photo")! The original owner had placed their address label on the back, which can be steamed off, if desired. The original plain white sleeve is included.
INNER SLEEVE: The original RCA Victor inner sleeve from 1959. It is very clean and straight, but has a couple of 3-inch splits from the record sliding about.
