Description
Here's a great chance to grab a very cool original USA press of an Elvis 45rpm Extended Play Album for a fair price - this is the famous and sought after MAROON LABEL version of the "A Touch Of Gold - Volume 1" EP, released under RCA's "Gold Standard Series". This is the first pressing so the deadwax/trail-off serial number has 1S on it - originally released in April 1959 to keep Elvis' name in the public limelight when he was starting his final stretch in the army before getting his discharge in early 1960.

Overall condition of this 'set' (record and sleeve) is Excellent!
The SLEEVE; Beautiful, practically perfect front cover with no faults whatsoever in sight. Sharp corners, zero ring-wear, great colors - beautiful! The back cover is pretty much the same although at the opening of the sleeve you can detect some yellowing and "dirt". See photos!
The RECORD; This is the famous MAROON LABEL variation, this specific label color was (I believe) originally reserved only for classical records at RCA. Yet somehow Elvis got them for his "Touch Of Gold" series too. The labels are strikingly beautiful, deep "maroon" color and display extremely well - minor handling wear can be seen but nothing major, no writing, no stickers, no stamps nor any other blemishes. The actual vinyl surface is also next to perfect - very, very minor hairlines can be seen under bright light but overall beautiful, shiny surface!
The photos of the record show some serious reflection which obviously shows how shiny it is but rest assured, even if it looks like it has scratches it does not have any. So put in a bid and get yourself, or a friend, a great Christmas gift!
-------------------- The 7-inch 45rpm EPA (Extended Play Album) format was something Elvis helped to explode in popularity in the 50's. They were like "mini-albums", mostly featuring four songs (two on each side) - so basically a format between an LP (Long Play album, usually featured 10-12 tracks on two sides) and a 45rpm Single (one song on each side). They were pressed in big numbers back then but they are still quite collectible and sought after today, possibly because they're far easier to handle and frame (as an example) than LP's. --------------------
