ELVIS PRESLEY - “BLUE HAWAII” (LPM-2426) AND “ELVIS’ GOLD RECORDS, VOLUME 2” (LPM-2075) WITH THE RARE "MONO" LABELS FROM 1963-64!
BLUE HAWAII (LPM-2426)
RECORD: VG- with many superficial scuffs & scratches, one of which can barely be felt with the fingertip, but it is deep enough to cause a skip on "Island Of Love (Kauai)". Along with the single skip are several noticeable "ticks" in that area of the scratch. Overall, RCA Victor's "New Orthophinic High Fidelity" shines brightly with strong vocals and instrumentation, but there are plenty of "ticks" of varying degree. Some tracks barely have any surface noise at all! This is a Hollywood pressing from 1963-64 which is very rare due to the short span of time that it was pressed with the "MONO" labels. First pressings out-number these by a very large number! The labels are the most attractive thing about this record, with that classic Hollywood "look"; bold silver print and vibrant colors on the Dog & Gramophone on semi-gloss black fields. These labels are NM without any spindle marks; amazingly clean! Jerry Osborne's "Presleyana VII" shows a value of $250 for this record in the grade of NM. The matrix numbers end with 17S/19?S. Part of the second digit is cut off on the Side 2 matrix, so it could possibly be an "8" as well.
COVER: VG with a 2-inch upper seam split (see photos) that also has a bend at that corner. There is also a diagonal upper left corner bend in which the stress mark shows mainly on the back side. A similar, but smaller bend is seen on the lower right corner that shows mainly on the front. Some light to moderate ring wear is observed, but is mainly concentrated to the upper and lower portions of the cover. The slicks remain very clean and glossy! There is absolutely no tape, writing, staple holes or unwanted stickers anywhere on this cover.

ELVIS' GOLD RECORDS, VOLUME 2 (LPM-2075) RECORD: POOR with evidence of having been hit hard on the edge, causing a crack that runs clear to the label. At the point of impact, we see a star-crack pattern from the outer lip, inward about an inch or so. It is a real shame as this record would grade VG++ (EXC) otherwise! The vinyl is very clean and exhibits beautiful gloss. This is a Hollywood pressing with gorgeous labels, boasting brilliant colors in the dog & gramophone. The Silver print stands out strikingly! Only a few very minor spindle marks are noticed. These reissues of earlier pressings that show "MONO" and "STEREO" at the 6 O'clock position on the labels are extremely scarce and are highly sought-after by collectors due to their short-lived pressing time (1963-64). This album was originally released in December of 1959, while Elvis was serving in the U.S. Army. COVER: NM- with beautiful, glossy surfaces on both, front and back! Ring wear had only begun on this cover, showing ever-so-slightly on the front, to the top and the bottom portions. The only other thing that I've noticed are what appears to be a few freckles on Elvis' cheek, but they are more than likely from splatter of some substance that had left its stains; very minor. INNER SLEEVE: The original turquoise-colored "ELVIS' Great LP Catalog" sleeve from 1963. A lengthy edge split is observed.
