ELVIS PRESLEY RCA VICTOR 37-7850 SURRENDER / LONELY MAN original USA issue Compact 33 Single record with rare Picture sleeve released 1961.
Condition is very nice. Pic sleeve and record are clean. NO writing, stickers, tape, seam splits, creases, etc. This is simply the best example I could find in 35 years. It is from my personal collection vault. Please see photos above. The Pic sleeve does have a little ring wear (I find it interesting that I have NEVER seen this sleeve without any ring wear - maybe it was the way RCA packed them for shipping.) It is otherwise very crisp and bright. Very fine appearance. VG+ You will be very happy with this package.
The record is in EXCELLENT + condition (E+). The vinyl is nice and shiny glossy black. The labels look almost new. NO scratches or rubbing or spindle hole wear. Those of you who have followed my Elvis auctions know that I make it a point to describe important variation details. I feel these things deserve attention and are very collectible. I have kept this item in my personal collection because the record has a HAND WRITTEN MATRIX NUMBER in the trail-off wax on both sides. I have never seen another one, they are usually machine stamped. My camera won't capture the detail, but it is different. Check yours if you have it. This should be listed in a Price Guide.
The short lived Compact 33 Single format of the early 1960s resulted in the release of only five Elvis titles. This is one of them and they are all difficult to find. If you are an experienced collector or someone who is new to the hobby, I believe this example is one that you would feel that it would never have to be upgraded. All the copies I have ever seen in person or in a photo have not been this nice. I attended Record shows and travelled extensively throughout the country. I bought and sold as I upgraded my collection. Some of my own collection appears in the Price Guide book I helped to write - A TOUCH OF GOLD 1990 Edition by Neal Umphred. That was a very good experience. I have personally seen and handled tens of thousands of Elvis records and memorabilia. When it comes to value, condition is everything.
