Description
ELVIS PRESLEY - “ELVIS' GOLDEN RECORDS” (LPM-1707), A VERY RARE, UNDOCUMENTED COVER VARIETY ALONG WITH THE SUPER RARE AND HIGHLY SOUGHT-AFTER "FABULOUS OFFER" COUPON FROM 1958! RECORD: VG+ (SOLID) with original glossy surfaces! There are just a bit too many light scuffs present to warrant the VG++ (EXC) grade. This Indianapolis pressing should play very well, with no skips or repeats. I saw no reason to test play any of the tracks as none of the light scuffs can be felt with the fingertip. The labels on this First Pressing are clean and original, with just a few light spindle marks seen on inspection. This album was released in April of 1958, exactly 60 years ago! The matrix numbers end with 1S/2S. COVER: VG+ with a 4-inch upper seam split (please see all 12 photos!) as well as some minor wear along the spine, although it remains fully legible. This cover is truly rare, being that there is no "RE" to the upper right corner on the back AND the last paragraph states: "After several rehearsal 'takes', a satisfactory master was finally made..."! The sole purpose for the "RE" to be placed was due to the change in this wording from the original: "After thirty-one grueling 'takes', a satisfactory master was finally made". Evidently very few covers were produced, sans "RE", once this wording was changed. This is fully original; no one altered this cover in any way, shape or form! You will not find any documentation within ANY price guide that depicts or mentions this cover variety and YES; it is a U.S. produced cover! There is absolutely no tape, writing or staple holes anywhere on this cover. INNER SLEEVE: The original "RCA Victor" sleeve from 1958, listing many different RCA Victor albums available at the time, including "Elvis' Golden Records".
"FABULOUS OFFER" COUPON: VG++ (EXC) with just a couple of subtle bends and some wrinkling from handling. The paper remains very clean and bright. This coupon has been known to be counterfeited, as mentioned in Jerry Osborne's "Presleyana VIII" (2017). I have personally seen one such counterfeit that appeared to have been a photo copy. It had not been cut properly and the copied border of the original was showing along an edge and the lighter letters of "FABULOUS OFFER" had a smudged appearance instead of the tiny small dots that make up the gray shade that is on this copy seen here. I guarantee this coupon to be genuine! This item alone is valued in Near Mint at $300 in "Presleyana VIII"!
GOOD LUCK!
I COMBINE SHIPPING! $4 for the first LP, then 25 cents for each additional LP. International Shipping has resumed for select countries. Please do not ask me to check "Gift" instead of "Merchandise" or to declare a low value on the Customs Form! I ship all records in the CORRECT cardboard record mailers, specifically designed for shipping these historic and tough-to-replace treasures to your doorstep in the same condition as when they leave my hands. USPS has been known to find a way to bend these boxes on occasion, hard as that may be to believe, so items valued at $30 or more will be shipped automatically with insurance at no additional cost to the buyer. ALL of my records are U.S. pressings unless otherwise stated. Payment is expected within 5 (Five) days from close of auction via PAY PAL ONLY – NO EXCEPTIONS, PLEASE. I normally ship within three business days from close of auction, but please allow a little extra time in the event of a holiday. Returns are accepted if you are accepted if you are not completely satisfied with your item. I strongly believe that my grading of records is spot-on, but we’re all human and something may occasionally be missed upon inspection. I will do my best to ensure customer satisfaction. 2018 marks 40 years of experience for me in this wonderful hobby. I specialize in Elvis Presley.
