RCA Victor EPA-992, ELVIS VOLUME 1, was the first Elvis EP from 1956 to make the chart more than a year after its release! The album topped the EP chart for two weeks, two years after its release!

Had the EP chart existed at the beginning of the year, this album might have racked up more weeks at #1 than JAILHOUSE ROCK.

Should Sony/BMG locate more RCA Victor paperwork on Presley’s sales, it is unlikely that this could be certified for higher sales. If an EP had been only rumored to have approached the 2,000,000 sales mark, we would have heard about it decades ago. Released: October 19, 1956

Entered chart: November 9, 1957

Billboard issue: November 18, 1957

Peak position: #1 (2 weeks)

Weeks on chart: 36

RIAA certification: 2xPlatinum (1,000,000 sales)

Bottom correctly reads Radio Corporation of America , © aligned with the fourth letter in vitalize and extends through the end of the line with the “s” in listeners.
