Absolutely perfect in every way. Probably never played, possibly even still sealed.

Near Mint (NM or M-)
Vinyl and sleeve

A nearly perfect record. A NM or M- record has more than likely never been played, and the vinyl will play perfectly, with no imperfections during playback. The record shows no obvious signs of wear. 45 rpm and EP sleeves have no more than the most minor defects even slight handling wear. Sleeves have no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes, or other noticeable similar defects. Same goes for inlay, posters, lyric sleeves, etc.

Very Good Plus (VG+)
Vinyl and sleeve

Vinyl shows some signs that it was played and otherwise handled, but was taken good care of. Any defects merely cosmetic and do not affect the actual playback as a whole. vinyl surface may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound might be present. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. Spindle marks may be present. Picture sleeves and inlys might have some slight wear, turned-up corners or one partial seam split. An LP sleeve may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or cut corner. In general, if not for a couple of minor things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint.

Very Good (VG)

Some defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced on a VG record. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. There may be light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels and sleeves may be written on, or have tape or stickers attached or small sticker residue. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, not all of these problems will be present on the same sleeve.

G or G+
Vinyl and sleeve

Record plays through without skipping; albeit, it will have significant surface noise, scratches, and visible groove wear. A cover or sleeve might have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear, or other defects might be present. While the record will be playable without skipping, noticeable surface noise and "ticks"can be heard in playback.

Poor (P), Fair (F)
Vinyl

The record might be cracked, badly warped, and skips or loops. The sleeve could be water damaged, split on all three seams or heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover barely keeps the LP inside it. Inlays are fully split, crinkled, and written upon.
