Description

This is a sealed copy of  Elvis Presley's 2nd LP of gospel songs, How Great Thou Art. It was recorded in May 1966 and released in February 1967. The title track won the 1968 Grammy Award for Best Sacred Performance. It was certified gold in Feb 1968, platinum and 2x platinum in 1992, and 3x platinum in 2010.
Due to a resurgence of interest combined with an increase in sales in 1968 after winning a Grammy Award, RCA reissued the LP in 1968. This copy offered for sale is that 1968 issue.
This LP is still sealed and has been part of my personal vinyl collection for decades. The shrink wrap is completely intact. There is slight wear on the very tips on 3 of the 4 corners. The remains of the price sticker can be seen on the shrink wrap on the upper right side of the front of the LP.
As every Elvis fan knows gospel music was his first love and he was very engaged in every aspect of the studio sessions for this LP. He rejected most of the songs brought to him by his publishing company for this LP and picked out his personal favorites for the LP. Elvis was always his own producer in the studio and this LP was no different. He personally arranged 5 of the tracks on this LP.
