  ELVIS PRESLEY - MOODY BLUE (AFL1-2428)

     THIS IS THE ULTRA-RARE BLACK VINYL

                     VARIETY FROM 1977!!! 

You have the opportunity to bid on this very elusive version of ELVIS PRESLEY'S "MOODY BLUE" LP with record number AFL1-2428, which was pressed on BLACK VINYL for a very limited time shortly before Elvis' untimely demise on August 16, 1977. Initial releases of this album were pressed on Blue Vinyl. When so many were pressed, RCA began to press them in regular Black Vinyl, indicated by the missing "THE BLUE ALBUM" round sticker that was normally placed onto the shrinkwrap on the earlier LP's. When Elvis suddenly died, RCA quickly switched back to Blue Vinyl, making this Black Vinyl issue an instant rarity! In 1979, RCA had to make a change, and with it, a new catalog number, AQL1-2428. These are ALL pressed on Black Vinyl and are FAR more plentiful than this earlier release seen here. This particular record is SO CLOSE to Near Mint! In fact, "Side A" is indeed Near Mint, but "Side B" does have a few surface scratches that I feel warrants an "Excellent" rating. I actually played "Pledging My Love" and "Moody Blue" (the area where the scratches are  predonament) and listened carefully for any audible distraction. There was barely anything detected; very faint ticks in "Pledging My Love" and nothing on "Moody Blue". The cover is Near Mint with the majority of the shrinkwrap still intact. There is an area on the back where a piece is missing, along with a tear at the top of 3 inches and the lower left corner where some had torn free. The shrink sticker "Contains the hits 'MOODY BLUE' and 'WAY DOWN'" is in Excellent condition and there is a store sticker (I believe KMart) just above the shrink sticker indicating the Artist and Album Title. This record and cover are valued at $300 in Jerry Osborne's "Presleyana VI" (2007) in full Near Mint. This particular LP cannot be far behind that mark in this condition. A very choice, original album for the serious Elvis collector!  

This LP comes with its original Inner Sleeve and shipped with the record separated from the cover to prevent seam splits from the record sliding around during transit.
