Very Good Condition
Original and rare Sun Rockabilly classic from my 50 year collection. No, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. This is the real thing!
For every serious collector an original Elvis on Sun is a MUST HAVE. This is your chance to have your own Sun label Elvis 45, before he was "The King", without paying $1000 or more to get it! This one plays all the way through just fine, both sides, and is in VG condition.
All my records have been in paper sleeves and/or plastic covers and in climate-controlled storage for more than 30 years. I'm at a stage in life that I'm ready to begin parting with them, so my loss will be your big gain!
I have 30,000 records from the '50s and early '60s. Most are VG to M- Top 100, Rockabilly and Doo-Wop. I specialized in Rockabilly, Elvis, Holly, and Sun label, so I have large quantities of those and many multiple copies.
Also, approximately 100 still-sealed Duane Eddy LPs on Jamie label that I got when I cleaned out a Philadelphia warehouse in the '70s.
- My Grading System -
Mint: I almost never grade a record Mint. To be called Mint it has likely never been played and with only hard to see scuffs from being removed from the sleeve a couple of times. Label looks perfect. Mint records more than thirty years old are extremely rare. When a record is truly Mint, it deserves (and receives) a large premium over other grades.
Near Mint: Usually the highest grade. Records from the 1950s & '60s in this condition are very rare. Record looks almost new except for a feather scratch or two from being removed from its sleeve. Label should look new. A record that has never been played or handled, and would normally be considered brand new, can still be Near Mint simply because it's been moved a few times, or has been stored for 50 years. Also called M- by some.
VG++ (Very Good Plus Plus): Beautiful collectible condition. Only the slightest of wear, slight scuffs, certainly no deep scratches. Very collectable.
VG+ (Very Good Plus): Very nice condition and better than you would expect from a record that's been played several times. The owner took good care of it and stored it in a or record case. Some scuffs and/or scratches but sounds good and does not skip. VG+ and VG++ is still quite collectable and above the norm for its age. This could even be a Near Mint record with a slight warp.
VG (Very Good): In good condition for its age, but more wear than VG+. Probably not always kept in a sleeve. Still makes for good listening and still quite collectable.
VG- (Very Good Minus): Generally not collectible condition, unless it’s a super rare record. This is what you would expect of a record owned by a party-going teenager in the '50s and '60s. Probably hasn't seen a sleeve since the day it was purchased. Maybe kept in a record carrying case. No skips. Okay for listening, maybe a crackle here and there, but most dealers avoid records in this shape or below.
G (Good): Lots of surface wear but still playable. The most confusing grade because "good" really does not mean good. It is actually in quite poor condition. Probably spent a lot of time sleeveless and stacked with other records. May or may not skip. Not collectable.
P (Poor): Not cracked. May or may not skip. Pretty much a wall hanger unless it's very rare. Also makes a great Frisbee.
