You are bidding on a Vinyl Re-issue of Elvis Presley’s classic 1968 comeback live album “Elvis TV Special.” This classic album was originally released in 1968 on the RCA label (AFM1-4088), and this Re-issue is on the “Black” RCA Label. As best we can determine, this Re-issue was released in 1981. (This Re-issue is RCA AYM1-3894). This album is in glorious MONO...
We actually purchased this item in the 1980’s, and it has been sitting in our home (vertically) for the last few decades.
The LP is in excellent condition. The album Jacket is in near mint condition, but as it is over 40 years old, there is some wear on the corners.. Please remember that this album was well taken care of, but it was played as part of our record collection decades ago. See photos.
This LP contains performances from Elvis’ 1968 “Comeback Special” in which he tried to reclaim his mantle after a string of below average movies and poor performance on the music charts. He succeeded magnificently, and even brough Scotty Moore & DJ Fontana back to help him get back to his “roots.”

““Elvis Comeback TV Special (1968)”
“Singer Presents ... Elvis (commonly referred to as the '68 Comeback Special) is a televised concert of American singer Elvis Presley, aired by NBC on December 3, 1968. It marked Presley's return to live performance after seven years during which his career was centered on the film industry. Presley was unhappy with his distance from musical trends of the time, and the low-quality film productions in which he was involved.
Initially planned as a Christmas special by the network and Presley's manager Colonel Tom Parker, producer Bob Finkel transformed the idea. He hired director Steve Binder to update Presley's sound, and to create a concert that would be current and appeal to a younger audience. Filming took place in June 1968 at NBC Studios in Burbank, California. The show consisted of a sit-down section, stand-up numbers and two musicals. The sit-down session showcased Presley in an informal setting, surrounded by fans and a small band.
The special garnered positive reviews when it aired, topped the Nielsen television ratings for the week, and was the most watched show of the season. Later known as the "Comeback Special", it re-launched Presley's singing career and his return to live performance”.
