Greetings fellow Elvis collectors and welcome to another no reserve auction from ALWAYS ELVIS. I have been selling Elvis records and memorabilia for 30 years. Bid with confidence. Highest bidder wins. This is the first time this rare item has been listed by me and the highest bidder will win it. All the collectors I know are missing this title in the scarce and very short lived Orange Label Gold Standard series. You could be the one that will own it. Good luck!

 

ELVIS PRESLEY  RCA 447-0658  "SPINOUT" B/W "ALL THAT I AM"  45 rpm record, USA pressing, released circa 1968.

This is quite a rare Elvis record. If you collect the RCA Gold Standard 45s you know that the Orange labels are the most difficult to find. This title was the last one to be issued with the Dog on Side label of the mid-1960s and was carried over to the Orange label when RCA made the switch in 1968. Of course the first new Elvis single we saw was "If I Can Dream" from the NBC Special in December of 1968. It seems that "Blue Christmas" (447-0647) is the most common title that turns up on the Orange label. It is quite likely that RCA pressed the majority of these in late 1968 and would have wanted more of "Blue Christmas" in the stores for the Holiday season. "Spinout" however did not do all that well on the charts to begin with when it was originally released in 1966. (I like the record though and bought the LP when it came out.) By late 1968 to 1969 Elvis was going in a new and different direction and for that matter, so was Rock 'n Roll music in general. One can only imagine that a reissue "Spinout" 45 would be in very small demand.

Don't miss this chance to add this one to your collection. It is the only example I have seen in over 30 years of hard collecting. When I helped write the 1990 Elvis Presley Price Guide A TOUCH OF GOLD by Neal Umphred (with Linda Jones and Me), we could not verify the excistence of this record. Of all the dozens and dozens of people we contacted, including some very high profile collectors, no one owned it or had even seen one. I have not seen a recent price guide, but we just assumed it should exist as part of the Gold Standard series. Well, here it is!

The condition is only Good (G). It does have a lot of surface scratches and scuffs from use. The label also has some wear and writing at the top on one side. Please see the above photos. (Some of the photos show what looks like a scratch at about 5:00 o'clock on the vinyl. It is not. It's a reflection of my arm holding the camera.) But this is such a rare and important record to get a little closer to completing the Gold Standard collection that we will have to accept it as-is. When you think about it, original SUN records are more common. Even promotional items like SPD-23 or Compact 33 records surface more often. I am happy to offer this to collectors Worldwide.
