This is the 1959 reissue on THE  GOLD STANDARD SERIES
of the original EP - RCA EPA-4054

Disc: (11/1959) Black label, dog on top. Hooked 1 for Side 1.

We grade this as VG+
We'll also include 2 Elvis Pocket Calendars from
1980, his 25th Anniversary on RCA
At first blush this record and jacket look close to mint, but the bottom of the jacket shows
the beginnings of a split that our record grader didn't even pick up.
The corner fold of the 1st over lay, before the photo shows a mussed corner,
but otherwise you can call the jacket mint/clean.
The label and hole are perfect,
there just a few small scratches that click at the beginning of Side One,
the same on Side 2,
but this record plays with like new fidelity.
The owner claimed it was only played a few times,
we just wish he had been more careful because this could be a
mint record save for a few marks. I actually thought at first
this might replace my MINT- copy of this piece, but the record
marks blew that, but the jacket is as good, the start of
the split is inconsequential, it's so small and we've put the record in a separate
Gold Standard Sleeve

(We sold as ADD SOME MUSIC on Goldmine as far back as 1977) 
We like to use GoldMine grading, except they don't have a VG++.
We believe SOMETHING must be worth more than half of mint,but less than Near Mint.

A records REAL VALUE is what YOU are willing to pay for it.

 MINT -(M) - is a misnomer used all too commonly.
The guideline to use is, "if you have two mint records and you can tell
the difference between them, one of them is not MINT, it is NEAR MINT.
That is how strict MINT should be.

We would say almost NO records are really MINT.

Very Good Plus Plus (VG++) Surely there are no visible scratches (needle rips),
maybe a scuff (something NOT caused by a needle not deep enough to cause a skip)
a label clean enough that if the vinyl were perfect, it would be NM.
Very Good Plus (VG+)   Generally worth 50 percent of the Near Mint value.
A Very Good Plus 45 will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it.
Record surfaces show some signs of wear and may have scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences.
Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK".
The label may have some ringage or discoloration, but should be barely noticeable.
The center hole will not have been mis-shapen by repeated play.
Very Good (VG)   Generally worth 25 percent of Near Mint value.
These records were usually shuffled in a pile of 45's and even without
visible scratches have lots of "acceptable" surface noise.
Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc.
Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a finger) that will affect the sound.
