ELVIS PRESLEY

ROCK 'N' ROLL

ORIGINAL 1ST PRESSING ON THE GROOVED HMV LABEL.

!!!!FACTORY SAMPLE TOO!!!!

(I have NEVER seen this album with a Factory Sample sticker....Rare, RAre, RARE!!!!!)

Well, folks...Here's a rare one for you-An all original Elvis Presley's first UK Lp on the gorgeous deep red HMV label.

A Factory Sample to boot!

A true piece of history from 54 years ago!

Catalogue number: CLP 1093

Matrix numbers:

Side 1: 2XAV 255 -1N

Side 2: 2XAV 256 -1N

Mothers/Stampers:

Side 1: 1/GA

Side 2: 12/GA

Vinyl: VG. There's been plenty of plays of this classic Lp. Lovely heavy weight vinyl. Quite a few light surface marks to the vinyl, but after playing her through, I didn't find any skips or jumps. Just raw Elvis at the start of his career...sounds great, I think the background noise just adds to it's authenticity.

Labels: VG++. Superb deep red, with gold writing...Perfectly original. It also has the 331/3 ABOVE the matrix numbers printed on the label, rather than the later pressing which has it below. Minimal hole wear with light spindle marks, visible when angled to the light.

"RT" Tax code to side 2- which again marks it as an original as this code was introduced on the 27th of October 1955 and ran until the 1st of June 1957, where it changed to "XT."

ORIGINAL DEEP GROOVE LABEL

***Now here's something you rarely ever see: A Factory Sample sticker to side 1! Somebody didn't want this on, so they tried to remove it-leaving enough of the sticker left to see what it used to state:

"Factory Sample Not For Sale"

The writing was in red and the original stickers had pointed ends-as does this one!!!WOW!!!

Please see the close-up photo.

These same stickers were also used by Parlophone.***

Sleeve: G. It has seen better days as it has a split of 5cm to the opening, as well as 14cm split to the spine, 2cm to the top and 5cm to the bottom. The back has 2, 2cm pieces missing from the original half moon flipbacks.

Now, that's the bad...Here's the good:

IT IS THE ORIGINAL 1ST PRESSING

It has the HMV dog to the bottom of the back cover. Is laminated to both sides and has the all important crescent flipbacks. It still has a lovely colour too.

Inner: EX. It is, I believe, the original inner as it is poly-lined and has the stars on it, along with the "Handling" guidlines. "Made In Great Britain"
