ELVIS PRESLEY – “SINGER PRESENTS ELVIS SINGING FLAMING STAR” (PRS-279) – LIMITED PRESSING FROM 1968 with SCARCE BONUS PHOTO!
RECORD: NM exhibiting beautiful, glossy surfaces! The Mustard colored labels on this Rockaway pressing are also NM; simply beautiful. This album was released in November of 1968 and according to Jerry Osborne in his “Presleyana VII”, 100,000 of these were manufactured exclusively for and sold only at Singer sewing Centers. Singer was given a 90-day exclusive, after which it went to RCA Camden and pressed on their Blue label in 1969. The matrix numbers end with 4S/6S.
COVER: VG++ with all of the original shrink wrap still intact. There is a small amount of bending to the two upper corners as shrink wrap can only protect only so much. In spite of the corner bends, this is one beautiful, original cover! The original $1.88 price sticker remains on the front. A great addition to any collection of Elvis Presley records and/or memorabilia!
INNER SLEEVE: The original “ELVIS’ GREAT LP CATALOG” (40D) sleeve from the era.
BONUS PHOTO: VG with some waviness to it. There is also a mild vertical bend that runs somewhat diagonally. This is not a crease! It is difficult to determine the cause for the waviness as it does not appear to have ever been wet. This is the scarcer of the two available Bonus Photos that were available at the time and has the December 3rd announcement of Elvis’ TV Special along the bottom of the back side. These were produced in much smaller numbers than those without the announcement. This photo remains very attractive and clean.
