Description
When my friend passed away in Massachusetts earlier this year leaving thousands of records, he assured me that he had long ago sold off all his original Elvis on Sun 45s.
Apparently he was wrong. This is an original copy of Sun 217, “Baby Let’s Play House”/“I’m Left, You’re Right, She’s Gone” by Elvis Presley with Scotty & Bill from 1955. It has the familiar “push marks” we have come to expect from original Sun releases.
Sun’s standard pressing plant used a method of aligning the stamper [the negative used in a hydraulic press to make the actual disc] over three pins, which, on the record label, looks like ‘push mark’ impressions. This happened because the impression was made while the disc was still warm, transferred from the stamper to the vinyl.
PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE BIDDING.
All I can say honestly about this copy is that I was able to get both sides to play WITHOUT skipping. It is worn. I have uploaded a video of both sides playing without any skips or sticks. It is unfiltered and was recorded from my Esoteric Sound turntable with 78 RPM stylus (best for early Suns) and tone arm weight set between 2 and 2.5. The photos show the push marks, the label wear on the B side, and the ink marking at the top of the A side label.
I have also cleaned it with an ultrasonic record cleaner.
If you are looking for a VG or above copy, this isn’t it. But for an entry level collectors copy, this one will do just fine. No returns on international shipping with this item.
