Original Thelma Records 45 by Emanuel Laskey – “Peace Loving Man” b/w “Sweet Lies.” A scarce Detroit deep soul single, prized by Northern Soul collectors and fans of Motor City’s independent label scene.
Condition: This copy shows heavy label wear and scuffing (see photos). Vinyl has visible scratches but still plays through with background noise. Labels are worn but legible, reflecting years of play and handling.
This record comes from the private collection of a Detroit disc jockey who spun it for local audiences during the golden age of Detroit soul. There are telltale signs of DJ use—including possible tape reinforcement on high-wear spots and light etched markings used for quick identification. These are not flaws but part of its story and provenance, showing that this disc lived its life in the booth where teenagers first heard the sound of Detroit soul as it happened.
