These are some of the Columbia recordings by SAUER. Rare in any form.

Sauer (1862-1942) was a pupil of Nicholas Rubinstein – brother of Anton – and Sauer never ceased singing his praises as a pedagogue par excellence. Sauer subsequently joined the Liszt circle, taking part in the 1884 classes and began his career the following year with a Berlin debut.

Sauer was self-evidently one of the giants, a true poet, and [his playing] attest[s] to the lyricism and beauty that mark out one of the elite.
   
    Although Emil von Sauer is viewed by many as the greatest of Liszt’s pupils that made recordings, those who met him were struck by his simple, direct, unaffected manner. His humility and lack of flamboyance may in part be responsible for his now being overshadowed by other Liszt pupils, but no less a figure than Josef Hofmann singled out Sauer alone among the Liszt pupils in a letter he wrote to critic Harold C. VINYL (play- & visually graded): NEAR MINT. Beautiful. Looks unplayed.

    THE RECORD HAS BEEN CLEANED with a NITTY GRITTY record cleaning machine.
It is in a new, non-static, high-density plastic inner sleeve; the cover is protected with a clear plastic outer sleeve.
Please SEE NOTE AT BOTTOM regarding INNER SLEEVES.

    PROFESSIONAL PACKAGING: Record is removed from cover, inserted into the custom-made plastic outer sleeve along with the cover, then nestled in a protective two-layer bed of bubble wrap. Then it goes into a secure, crush-resistant new box. No split seams or mashed corners. (In the case of sealed records, we will not open them unless asked.)
