Description
This is a very rare old recording, 78 rpm, 7", E Berliner's Gramophone,with many patent numbers, the latest printed being Oct 29 1895, but also has 9/29/99 scratched into the wax. It is disc No 0556D, Killarney, played by the lead cornet soloist of Sousa's Band, Herbert L Clarke, Cornet Solo, signed in the wax by Herbert L Clarke. Considering that it is one of the first disc records, well over 100 years old, it is in remarkable condition and plays well, some surface hiss at the beginning, but when the cornet begins to play, the hiss recedes and you hear the most prominent cornetist of his day, in an eloquent performance. Few of these old Berliner records survive. It ships priority at 1 pound ship wt.
