Description
This is the extraordinarily rare 1st recording of Lovesick Blues & Big Bad Bill by Emmett Miller from his Ashville, NC recording session from November 1925. Accompanied by the great Walt Rothrock, this record was recorded by Ralph Peer at the Vanderbilt Hotel.
Records from this recording session were thought to be lost for all time, when a copy was discovered in the private collection of Gene Earle. A second copy was discovered in the collection of Al Haug in 1996, according to the book "Where Dead Voices Gather" by Nick Tosches. A third copy of this record was discovered in 2009 and is the only copy to come to market. It sold for $515 and was graded as a G-, which is about as bad as you can get. That's how rare this record is.
This record has been professionally graded by Joel Slotnikoff at Blues World as VV-. This is not the more common 1928 version electrically recorded.
