Vinyl

The LP plays with continuous surface noise on both sides. The surface noise is more noticeable on some tracks than on others. That said, the surface noise does not make the record unlistenable. Some tracks I'd grade as "Good Plus"; other tracks I'd grade as Very Good Minus and (sometimes) better. Overall, I'd say that the LP is a notch above being a "placeholder" or "filler" copy since it is still fully listenable despite obvious wear. However, this particular copy is not worth seeking out for the vinyl: it is only worth obtaining for the Frank McCarthy cover unique to the South African pressing. I imagine that serious collectors of Ennio Morricone will already have a decent copy of this soundtrack on vinyl.

Cover

The cover has numerous imperfections and, at best, grades as Poor-verging-on-Fair or as Fair-verging-on-Poor,
depending on your criteria.

Unfortunately, the laminate to the front of the cover has peeled away in several sections. This has also left
some white markings in various places. Please see photos.

The cover has pronounced ring wear and creasing. It is also apparent that, over time, the laminate has pulled up
the bottom right hand corner of the cover. Please see photos.

There is also pronounced corner wear to the bottom right hand corner. Please see photos.

There is noticeable 'feathering' to the opening. Please see photos.

Discolouration and markings can be seen on the rear of the cover ("X"s marked in blue pen next to two of the songs).

On the plus side, the lettering on the spine is still perfectly legible and, as yet, there are no seam splits.
The bottom seam, however, is on the verge of developing a seam split.

Although the cover has several flaws and is not in collectible condition, the cover image is still very striking, full of depth and amazing detail.
