Description

Ephat Mujuru and The Spirit of the People' 'The Mbira Music of Zimbabwe' on Zimbabwe records ZML 1003 issued 1983. The Ensemble features three mbira players, two hosha (rattle, maracca type instruments) players and a drummer. The group were one of the most popular mbira-pop bands playing in Zimbabwe during the 1980's when there was a drive to incorporate traditional music with Zimbabwean urban pop. ' The Mbira Music of Zimbabwe' issued in 1983 was acknowledged to be Ephat Mujuru's classic recording.

I will also be listing further Ephat Mujuru vinyl LP's plus a couple of real rarities from our music collection. Very little traditional mbira music on vinyl can be found in or out of Zimbabwe. Originally the mbira was discouraged under the settler regime but when colonialism disappeared there was the desire to reconnect with the Zimbabwean past.
IMPORTANT NOTES: Please read carefully. All the records on offer date from the 1980's so should be considered with that in mind. They were most likely to have been secondhand when bought though (I'll mention if bought new). My wife had mbira lessons in the early 1980's but were abandoned when we had a family. So, these records weren't played a lot by us and then haven't been played for over 30 years. A good few years ago I got rid of any equipment that could play vinyl so I cannot describe how the LP's play but only give you an idea of condition based on viewing the LP's at an angle and then mentioning any scuffs/scratches I can see. A few years ago I Ebayed my collection of African music LPs in the same way and there were no complaints then.
DESCRIPTION of this LP: Side 1: Cannot see any issues. Side 2: Track 1 has 3 scuffs. One other very light scuff (may be a production one) that travels across track 2 to 4.
Plastic sleeve: has some creases/ripples. Album cover: Edges rubbed. Bottom edge of front of double LP sleeve has a 100mm slit on fold.
Happy to combine postage. 3 LP's can go in one professional packaging for £5.00.
Please see photos which form part of the description.
