This is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Eric Burdon left the San Fran Animals in 1969 and wanted a diverse collection of jazz and funk musicians to swing with. What he found was the band War and they recorded Eric Burdon Declares in '69. That one has stayed in the memories of the public, sort of, with tracks appearing on Animals Best of packages and so forth, but for some reason THIS, the bands second album BLACK MAN'S BURDON is somewhat lost in the cracks, which is nothing less than a shame, given how amazingly it comes off once you spin it. The cover of Rolling Stone's "Paint It Black" on this recording blows me away.
