Eric Burdon & The Animals. Their fourth studio album recorded from February to August and released in November 1967. The Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd front laminated Sleeve is in VG+ Condition, the plain company inner is in VG+ Condition & the Record is in VG+ Condition. With great tracks from Eric Burdon including; 'San Franciscan Nights & Its All Meat'. With the original yellow MGM Mono Labels, the 'Sold in the UK..' rim text and the earliest A-1 B-1 Matrices & 1-R 1-G stampers of the very first Presses! Description
Original UK MGM yellow & black label mono press.The original Animals had split up in September 1966 and their last recordings were released as 'Animalisms' in November that year. In the aftermath Eric Burdon recruited new musicians, including John Wieder & Vic Briggs to form Eric Burdon & The Animals, moving towards a more psychadelic rock sound. Burdon had thrown himself into the new Hippie scene in London and America and emerged as a spokesman for the love generation. The album was recorded between February to August 1967 and includes covers of the Rolling Stones 'Paint It Black' and a homage to Jimi Hendrix 'Yes I Am Experienced' as well as the hit single 'San Franciscan Nights'.
This is the original issue with the rough yellow & black MGM labels with the 'Sold in the UK..' label text, with the earliest 1-A 1-B matrices and the 1-R 1-G stampers of the very first presses.
The Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd front laminated sleeve is intact & in VG+ condition, with some light corner/edge wear and some light laminate rubbing/creasing on the front cover, with some light discolouration and a small sticker mark on the unlaminated rear. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain company inner is intact, but is lightly discoloured & in VG+ condition. The record is in visually VG+ condition, with quite a few faint sleeve removal hairlines and several needle marks/scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a few faint spindle markings on each side. The sound reproduction is VG+ to EX, with definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some low background noise during the run in grooves and some low clicks and pops occasionally in a couple of places caused by the needle marks/scuffs.
Overall, still a really good listen, that plays much better than it looks. The matrix nos. are; MGM-8052-1 stamper 1-R, MGM-8053-1 stamper 1-G. This is one of the early copies of the original 1967 UK mono issue of this album!
