StatusOriginal US 2LP released in 1977 on Prestige Records. Cat: P24070. This album has a gatefold sleeve.
This two-LP set reissues music originally on the two LPs Here and There and Eric Dolphy in Europe, Vol. 2. Taken from three separate occasions, Eric Dolphy is featured at the Five Spot with trumpeter Booker Little on "Status Seeking" and on unaccompanied bass clarinet for "God Bless the Child," stretching out on five songs with a European trio in 1961 (including two lengthy versions of "Don't Blame Me" and a rendition of "Laura" that clocks in at 13:45) and starring on a flute feature with the Jaki Byard trio, "April Fool." A true original, Dolphy is in typically adventurous form throughout this recommended two-fer. Features Booker Little, Mal Waldron, Jaki Byard, Richard Davis, Roy Haynes, Ed Blackwell, George Tucker, Bent Axen, Erik Moseholm & Jorn Elniff.
