Description

Original 1953 U.S. Decca Records two-record 45 RPM EP set, Jimmie Rodgers Songs, sung by Ernest Tubb, catalog ED 588, housed in its original illustrated album cover.

This complete two-disc set contains eight songs associated with country pioneer Jimmie Rodgers, interpreted by Ernest Tubb:

Record 1
Mother, Queen of My Heart
I’m Lonely and Blue
Why Did You Give Me Your Love?
I’m Free (From the Chain Gang Now)

Record 2
Why Should I Be Lonely?
Hobo’s Meditation
Any Old Time
A Drunkard’s Child

That exact eight-track configuration is documented for Decca ED 588.

Record plays NM- audio.

Playback is exceptionally strong and clean for an early-1950s two-record EP set. Both discs retain excellent gloss and present very well overall.

The original black Decca Extended Play 45 labels remain clean, attractive and highly legible.

The original illustrated cover is complete and presents very nicely, with strong pink, yellow and black artwork, a large portrait of Ernest Tubb, guitar illustration and the full eight-song listing on the front.

The cover shows age-related toning, light spotting, edge and corner wear, light creasing and general handling consistent with its age. The interior advertising panels and rear liner notes remain fully legible, including the original tribute text from Mrs. Jimmie Rodgers.

This is a particularly appealing example because it retains the complete two-record configuration, original packaging and NM- playback, making it much stronger than the typical loose-disc or incomplete set.

The photographs are an important part of the condition description. Please review all photos carefully before purchasing.

NOTE: Please consider that your audio equipment blows mine away and the record will invariably sound better on your system. Also, I do not have the ability to professionally clean records and give one static brush before ONE sampling, then back into the sleeve and jacket. My goal is to give you all you need for a transparent purchasing experience.
