Contradictory to what many collectors believe, Mercury did not come up with the use of 35mm film recording! It was the invention of Everest's parent company, Belock Instrument Corp. The founder Harry Belock created the recording machine that use the wide, sprocketed movie film to provide steady speed and wide dynamics that was never achieved before on regular reel tapes. They issued a few dozen wonderful recordings of mostly adventurous repertoire. Unfortunately their financial situation soon forced them to sell the record business and a fella named Robert Fine bought their 35mm recording equipment and went on to become the chief engineer of Mercury. As they say, the rest is history!

Knowledgeable collectors may know their first issue has silver back and an extra silver cardboard inner sleeve with wooden dowel. While these "silver backs" look handsome, the paper they use unfortunately becomes flaky over time and may easily peel off. The labels may be silver/blue, purple/gold, gold, black, orange, yellow, etc. And among these perplexing package hierarchy, one reliable way to tell the vintage is the stamper number. The early pressings all have hand-written serial numbers followed by the stamper number indicated by T1, T2, T3, etc. I will include this when available.

Record condition: EX+/NM-(slight rubbing marks but plays very well)

Cover condition: EX (wear on edges), earliest square wooden dowel inner sleeve has slight tears
