Everest stereo 6 LP box set Steven Staryk in a truly exceptional and ambitious Recital series entitled Four Hundred years of the Violin, an Anthology of the Art of Violin Playing.
Lp 1 is a recital of encores, including those by Fiocco, Handel, Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, paganini, Prokofiev, De Falla, Szymanowski & Novacek.
Lp 2 Every Violinist's Guide is 18 Traditional Etudes. Works by Kreutzer, Dancla, Rode Fiorillo, Kayser, Dont, and a Wieniawski premiere.
Lp 3 is The Wieniawski Programme, including the world premiere of the complete Etude Caprices for 2 violins (Staryk in both parts) and four other solo works.
Lp 4 is Italian Baroque Sonatas by Nardini , Veracini, Locatelli & Corelli, these with Kenneth Gilbert, Harpsichord.
Lp 5 is all Bach: 4 Sonatas with Continuo or Harpsichord.
Lp 6 is Solo (ie unaccompanied Sonatas by Pisendel, Geminiani, Stamitz, Hindemith, Papineau-Couture, and Prokofiev, all performed by Staryk. His tone throughout is of a beautiful silvery singing tone except in the Prokofiev and Hindemith where a different drier quality is called for, all of which he can deliver with ease. All performed on the legendary Ex Papini 1739 Guarnerius Del Gesu. If you love violin recitals, this is unmissable.
