I picked up this odd record twenty-some years ago at a shop in Philadelphia. I had no idea what it was at the time, but was enticed by the instrumentation - "vocals, synthesizers, drum machine."
I hung onto it, only realizing later that this is one of 300 copies of a self-released synthwave gem, complete with the original screenprinted cover (green and blue on the front, red and yellow on the back).
This is a very rare record, and a sort of "holy grail" of 1980's minimal synth weirdness. A couple of young dudes from Delaware cooking up goofy sci-fi ideas with a very serious nearly faux-british singing style. If you want to hear it, the tracks are out there on the YouChoob and such. My personal favorite is the instrumental "Streetwalk" which basically cribs the bassline from "Flashlight" and drapes it in some singing, detuned, chorused synth caterwaul over the boxy analog drums.
Back in the days of MySpace I managed to find and chat a bit with Michael Gross, and he was very nice. Discogs says he passed away in 2016, which saddens me. His bandmate Mark Wilde died in 1987, and Gross told me the loss of his friend had been devastating for him.
I did not want to sell this record, but I find myself struggling financially right now, and must part with it... Been a collector for years, and have to de-accession some items.
The vinyl itself is in excellent condition. The black sleeve (to which the screenprinted art is attached) has some edge-wear, but is otherwise in good shape front and back. Please ask me any questions!
