Description
Johnny Rebel: N*gg*r, N*gg*r / Move Them N*gg*rs North. Rebel 514, VG to VG+ (Light wear; a few surface scratches, good gloss, clean labels.) Musically and vocally, these are competent country sides. The lyrics, however, are blatantly racist and offensive – almost to the point of parody. Verses like:
They’re trying to start some trouble by mixing up the races /
I think that they’d be better off by staying in their places
would have been right at home in a Mel Brooks movie. Jay Miller, the man behind Rebel Records, once claimed they were just “a joke.” That’s a poor excuse.
Whatever, Rebel 45s have historical value and are increasingly hard to find. Please see my Other Items for # 500, 501, 504, 506, and 512 AND a country music 45 by Johnny Rebel, recorded in 1963 under his real name!
