Description

This is a wonderful record. It's an original UK pressing of 'The Fabulous Ronettes' by The Ronettes on the UK London label (catalogue no. HA-U.8212). It's a mono pressing from 1964 and is a licensed product from the original US Philles recording. The importance of this pressing is that it features the first 'plum' label with silver wording. This is much rarer than the later black label pressing. The cover is in superb condition. It's not a flipback type but is laminated on the front which shows almost no wear an tear or damage. The edges are in great condition with no damage at all and the spine is almost perfect with no visible damage. The wording along the spine is 100% readable. The rear of the sleeve which is not laminated is very clean with almost no marks at all. This sleeve really is in fantastic condition considering it's 42 years old. The sleeve states on the back 'Printed in England by James Upton Ltd. Birmingham & London - Laminated with Clarifoil made by British Celanese Limited'. I've graded the sleeve Ex+. The inner bag is the original type which is plain white, diecut with an inner polythene bag. It states at the bottom 'British Patent No. 800513 & 973939 - MADE IN ENGLAND 4913000 13804 825'. The inner bag has been graded Ex-. The record was produced by Phil Spector. The record itself plays beautifully on both sides. There are one one or two minor pops and clicks and some minor surface noise but these don't detract from the overall quality of the recording. There are no visible marks on either side and each side has a glossy look to it. The plum-coloured labels are in great condition with minor spindle marks. The silver wording is in great condition. Above the catalogue number on the left side of each label (HA-U.8212) there are inverted matrix numbers - ACPL.2674 and ACPL.2675. It states on each label 'LONG PLAYING - AMERICAN SERIES'. It states around the circumference of the label - 'ALL RIGHTS OF THE MANUFACTURERAND OF THE OWNEROF THE RECORDED WORK RESERVED - UNAUTHORISED PUBLIC PERFORMANCE, BROADCASTING AND COPYING OF THIS RECORD PROHIBITED'. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - ACPL-2674-1B - stampers - 1 KT - side two - ACPL-2675-1B - stampers - 1 KT. I have graded the record Ex.
