A chance to own this iconic Peter Saville designed sleeve for Factory Records.
Original thermographically printed sleeve featuring raised gloss ink on matt black card, providing a braille-like effect.
Track A recorded at Henry's.
Track B recorded at Cargo Studios, Rochdale; Mixed at Strawberry Studios, Stockport.
Additional Notes:
Limited edition of 5000. Housed in black on black thermographic sleeve designed by Peter Saville and printed and hand folded and glued by Roberts and Sons Printers, Chapel Street, Salford.
"Peter's idea for this sleeve originated in a thermographic machine installed in the Manchester Poly graphics Department at that time. Peter wanted to experiment with using the same colour thermo ink as the card it was printed on. Originally offered the sleeve concept to A Certain Ratio in the bar of the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, who, arrogant little bastards, told him to get lost. Instead he gave the idea to OMD, became their regular designer and won countless awards for his work with them in the next few years." (Anthony H Wilson)
Side A Matrix Number: FAC 6-Before-1 EG (A Porky Prime Cut)
Side B Matrix Number: FAC 6-After-1 EG
Condition: Record is very good+ showing small hairline marks on both sides caused (probably) from the paper sleeve. I would grade the vinyl as an honest 7/10.
Sleeve has nice, crisp corners but some of the original raised gloss ink has been rubbed away, especially at the top of the front cover where the band's name used to be. I would grade the cover as an honest 6/10.
This item has been stored carefully in a smoke and pet-free home.
I always pack and send records out in thick cardboard mailers to fully protect them in the post.
