PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Only RARELY SEE this 1968 original pressing ....So WHO were these guys??? "The Hard Times" originally hailed from San Diego and consisted of "Bill Richardson" (lead guitar), "Rudy Romero" (guitar), "Lee Kiefer" (vocals, harmonica), "Larry Byrom" (bass guitar, guitar), "Bob Morris" (bass guitar) and "Paul Wheatbread" (drums).
"The Hard Times" formed in 1965 as a Garage/Folk-Rock outfit that by 1966 had relocated to Los Angeles and hooked up with manager "Florence Stanley". They became a house band at the prestigious "Whisky a Go-Go" and shared the same stage with other more famous bands like "Love", "Buffalo Springfield" and "The Doors". They were also regulars on "Dick Clark"'s Pop music TV show, "Where The Action Is" with "The Robbs", "Paul Revere & The Raiders" and "The Knickerbockers". There's a lot to like about their only album "BLEW MIND" from lovely covers of "Bob Lind"'s "Come to Your Window" and "Al Kooper"'s "Sad Sad Sunshine" to the spooky title track ("Blew Mind"), a "Bill Richardson" original, and "Rudy Romero"'s "Give To Me Your Love". Elsewhere there's also the overly baroque "Candy Man" which opens this collection, a production approach that also repeats on a cover of Donovan's '60s "Colours". As well, "Goodbye" has wonderful harmonies and Folk-Rock guitar work in a Beatles-que way. While the catchy groover, "Fortune Teller" was the closest "The Hardtimes" came to a hit. "I'm Not A Rock" is another rocker, which is pretty cool.... "Under The Sunlight" is an interesting attempt at psychedelic folkrock tune, with some interesting guitar work.
"Blew Mind" itself is something of a Psychedelic experiment, accompanied by what sounds like garbled police radio message in the background.
Their records were produced at various times by legendary Jazz producer and "World Pacific Records" boss "Dick Bock", and Byrds' manager/producer "Jim Dickson".
