Description
For your consideration...
Up for auction is an extremely rare FIRST (and ONLY) PRESSING, FACTORY SEALED copy of the LONG OUT- OF -PRINT Gorillaz double album Demon Days. I am the original purchaser of this album and have been sitting on it, forgotten in my collection (much to my chagrin) since I picked it up at a local record shop (R.I.P. Madhatter Records) back in the Spring of 2005 on or very close to the day of its release. The only reason that I can think of for having not opened it comes down to the fact that I also bought the deluxe CD version at the same time. I have enclosed as a bonus, a pristine (NM) copy of the rare promotional booklet that preceded the album, titled "Gorillaz - The Return 05.24.05"(It has been stored with the album since day one). The album is in pristine factory issued condition with perfect corners spine and seams. It does have one "issue" that may be of concern to the most demanding of collectors where as the factory shrink has a stretch split at the opening side of the album that measure about an inch and a half, possibly due to the overall thickness of the album, the heat was just a bit too high in the sealing process, or a combination of both. The aforementioned must also be noted as only being visible from the end and causes no distraction visually to the front or back of the jacket. It has been stored in a climate controlled environment for the last 8-ish years in a resealable poly sleeve (which, as with all of my albums, was utilized upon its arrival home). Please see the included pictures and feel free to contact me with any and all questions with regards to this item before bidding. I will make the attempt to return with you as immediately as possible. Thank you for your interest!!!
-Terry

***All unsealed/used record albums are shipped outside of their original jackets and inner sleeves and in a new poly lined inner sleeve and then inserted into a cardboard dust jacket. Once this is done they are then either inserted into a resealable, crystal clear, poly sleeve together, or in the case of double, triple, etc. albums the records and jackets are separated into multiple bags, and then properly placed, using mailer pads or bubble wrap, and sealed in a mailer. New/sealed records are shipped in a resealable, crystal clear, poly sleeve and then placed in a mailer in the same fashion as described for unsealed or used albums.***
*I use a grading system based on the Goldmine Grading Standard. I visually grade both sides of the record, the jacket, and the inner sleeve (if applicable) separately, under a bright light.
These are the grades I use:
Still Sealed (SS) = a new record, sealed in its original shrink-wrap.
Near Mint (NM) Vinyl is near perfect. Very likely unplayed. At most, a light scuff appears on the record, but it should play without any noise or skips. The record sleeve should also be near perfect with only minor signs of wear. There should be no"ring wear" on the cover. (Ring wear is when the outline of the record inside shows through the sleeve.) ** NOTE :: I have yet to grade any cover NM, I grade covers either SEALED or EX. **
Excellent (EX) Vinyl should still play with no skips of any kind. There can be some very minor surface scuffs, but they should not affect the sound quality. The record sleeve can have some minor ring wear but it should be mostly in good shape. Also, there can be some minor creases in the corners but no splits in the seams.
Very Good+ (VG+) This is the grading category where the quality of the sound is affected -- there will be some surface noise -- and the vinyl will show wear, including surface scuffs and some light scratches. However, the record is still very listenable as there are no deep scratches that cause skips. On the cover, the corners may be slightly bent, but not broken. There may be wear to the seams but not tears or holes.
Very Good (VG) Vinyl doesn't necessarily look good, but still plays well enough. Surface noise will probably be present, including pops and clicks. At higher volume levels, the music should overpower any pops and clicks present. There may be seam splitting, but not complete separation of the sleeve panels from each other. There will be noticeable ring wear on the cover, but the cover should for the most part still be in good condition.
Good (VG-) Vinyl is well played and looks it. However, the record should still play without skipping. It will have substantial surface noise, pops and clicks. Loss of various parts of the dynamic range will occur due to worn grooves. This grade depends a lot on the owner and the type of records he or she collects. A rock record may still sound ok at a high volume, but quieter styles of music will be practically unlistenable. The record cover may have many problems including seam splits, tears, and writing on it.
The Terms: Payment is expected within 72 hours of the sale/auction's end unless other arrangements are made PRIOR to your bidding or committing to purchase via the "Buy It Now" option,if it is offered. I accept ONLY PAY-PAL PAYMENTS. I will ONLY ship to the US, Canada, Mexico, and the U.K. as a rule; however, and before bidding or I will cancel your bid, if you reside in a country other than the ones listed above you may contact me as I am willing to make exceptions on a case by case basis.
Shipping: I am a recycler of shipping materials. It is rare that I will ever use new/virgin shipping materials. That being said I also am very particular about the way that I ship. If you have any certain requests or concerns regarding the way you would like things shipped please contact me before you bid or buy so that something may be worked out and if any extra charges may or may not need to be assessed to the final price. My primary shipper is the United States Postal Service (U.S.P.S.). I will normally ship within 3 standard business days of payment receipt. I implore you to purchase the insurance on any item under $50 and I REQUIRE it on all purchases over $50. Delivery confirmation is included on all orders over $10. I will NOT be responsible for items lost, stolen or damaged after they have been accepted by U.S.P.S. if you opted out of utilizing the insurance.
Returns: As it has been brought to my attention through many forums, e-bay has imposed a return policy on all of its sellers. I will adhere to these policies as they require so long as it is made clear to you the prospective buyer that 1) I will NOT accept any items sold as "sealed"or "new" back once it has been opened for ANY reason, 2) I will NOT be a victim of "buyer's remorse". If you can't afford the item, please don't commit to buy or bid on the item, again, PLEASE!!!, 3) If for any reason I inadvertently misrepresent an item I will go so far as to offer reimbursement for the return shipping once the item has arrived back to me and based solely on what is stated on the postage label, 4) It is the responsibility of the purchaser to make their claim regarding any item incurring damage in shipping within an acceptable time frame (my belief, though debatable, is that a week is more than adequate).
Regarding feedback: I, as a seller, will leave feedback upon receipt of payment. It is your only responsibility, to pay promptly. I will not wait for you to leave feedback before I do so and I will not forget to do so. I say this because as a buyer I have been "forgotten" by sellers in the past who, for whatever reason and even after receiving feedback from me, simply would not post any feedback.
As always, and again, THANK YOU!!! for your interest and Good Luck!!! if you are bidding!!!
