PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. For those who know Syd Barrett, he will need little introduction but there will be many people who maybe have never heard of him so here is a brief history. Syd Barrett was a founder member of Pink Floyd who, with his shock of curly black hair, hippest pyschadelic clothing, quirky lyrics and experimental guitar playing soon projected the group from Cambridge via the UFO Club 'happenings' in London to become the coolest, freakiest group in town. This early work appears on the debut album Piper at the Gates of Dawn released in 1967.
Then, as the story goes, Syd started hanging out with some serious weird people including a permanently naked Eskimo girlfriend who in fact appears on the inside of the Madcap album cover. However, it was the influence of other friends who had an almost fervent religious belief in the merits of daily intakes of LSD that perhaps 'did for him' combined with a copious intake of marijuana and mandrax. The net result was that his mind went AWOL and his performance sometimes amounted to little more than detuning his guitar until the strings fell off. To bolster up the band, his old busking buddy, Dave Gilmour, was drafted in to cover in a brief five man line up. Tiring of Syd's unpredictability, one day, the group decided not to pick him up for a gig and from that point, he was never in the band again. After a short spell of 'going to the shop to buy cigarettes,' eg. going on tour, they eventually came clean and the band formally split. Both Syd and the remaining Floyd got a record contract each. The band's original management backed Syd as the rising star and Jones and Jenner in the absence of any other candidates, started producing recordings in May 1968. Progress was slow and the project faltered. After three weeks of recording in 1969, an impatient EMI gave Gilmour and Waters of Floyd five days studio time to tie up the Madcap album.
