ORIGINAL UK VERTIGO (6360001) FIRST PRESSING (April 1970) OF FAIRFIELD PARLOUR's "From Home To Home" LP - A BRIT PSYCH CLASSIC AND THE FIRST RELEASE IN THE VERTIGO 6360 SERIES - THIS IS KALEIDOSCOPE WITH A NEW NAME (allegedly changed to avoid confusion with the US band Kaleidoscope) AND IT'S AN ALBUM OF REAL BEAUTY - FULL OF RICH MELODIES, BEAUTIFUL ARRANGEMENTS AND IN SUPERB CONDITION (a handful of plays at most) - DELIVERING SENSATIONAL AUDIO THROUGHOUT (ON MY SYSTEM - AT A VERY LOUD VOLUME!) - PRACTICALLY FLAWLESS - GREAT COPY

PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL (very chunky for Vertigo)
THE RECORD HAS THE FIRST VERTIGO LABELS WITH A SWIRL TAKING UP THE WHOLE OF SIDE A AND A LARGE SWIRL ABOVE, AND "VERTIGO" BELOW THE CENTRE HOLE ON SIDE B

AND THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL OUTER TEXTURED GATEFOLD SLEEVE WITH FACTORY SEALED LEFT-SIDE EDGE AND INTERNALLY PRINTED LYRICS - THIS FIRST ISSUE SLEEVE CARRIES THE TEXT "COPYRIGHT SUBSISTS ON ALL VERTIGO RECORDINGS...." (which was later changed to "...ALL STEREO RECORDINGS...")
AND THE SET COMES COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL POLY-LINED VERTIGO INNER SLEEVE DATE CODED '0470' (April, 1970)

From Home to Home is quite similar to the albums the band released in the late '60s as Kaleidoscope (the British Kaleidoscope, not to be confused with the American band of the same name and reputedly the main reason they changed their name, the line-up is identical).
In fact, it's similar enough to Kaleidoscope records to make one wonder why they bothered with the name change.
There is a little more polish and sophistication in the production, and a slightly heavier rock sound, but the focus is still on gentle, story-like songs with beautiful melodies.
A much sought-after Brit psych classic.

LABELS: The labels are clean, bright and unmarked with only about a handful of light spindles - this copy has not been over-played at all
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen and are practically unmarked - beautiful copy
VINYL Audio: Outstanding audio on this first pressing with a crystal clear, deep, rich, warm and detailed sound - very, very impressive indeed. On playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my records prior to listings) there are no scratches, no skips or jumps, no surface noise and no clicks or pops. There is very brief split second patch of hiss at the beginning of Side Two on "Emily" but this is incredibly brief (literally a split second) and the only (extremely minor) flaw to this beautiful LP. Otherwise, it plays incredibly well throughout with impressively clean audio, sensational clarity and stereo separation, no groove-wear and no distortion (the quiet intro to "Aries" is just about quiet as you could wish for) and is critically graded EXCELLENT++ for audio - fabulous copy of this outstanding LP and very, very highly recommended indeed
SLEEVE: The original outer textured gatefold (designed by Keef) is good and solid with just a little rubbing to the top and bottom edges and a clear, clean spine with all text fully legible. When angled to the light there is some light spotting to the textured finish and some light rubbing, but this is very minor. On the top right on the front of the cover there is what looks like a small patch of wear which has been coloured in but again, this is very minor and does not detract from the overall appearance of the sleeve which is EXCELLENT
the original poly-lined Vertigo inner sleeve is also in EXCELLENT condition with no splits
