Description
Up for auction is a nice, original copy of the self-titled Fairport Convention album, originally released in the U.S. on A&M Records (SP 4185) in 1969.
-Guaranteed original U.S. pressing
-Correct original tan A&M labels
-Original paste-down cover
-Heavy inflexible vinyl
-Original A&M inner sleeve
-No UPC/bar code on cover
Note: The earliest brown label originals like this one have very heavy, thick vinyl, which offers superior sound quality to even the later brown labels, which have thinner vinyl. Getting very hard to find these heavy vinyl originals.
Condition:
Cover is in very good condition with moderate signs of wear or age. No ring wear on front, just some faint rubbing and some age spotting near top (see photos). Back also shows light age discoloration. Seams are intact, not split, but they do show chipping loses and rubbing (see photos). Corners are nice, but rubbed. Still attractive copy.
Grade: a strong Very Good (VG).
Vinyl is very nice, still has its original shine. No significant scratches or scuffs, just a few very faint, superficial hairlines, probably from taking vinyl out of paper inner sleeve a few times. Labels are clean, unmarked. Vinyl looks like it's been played a couple times but handled very carefully. Spot tested, the sound quality seem clean and clear, very nice. Nicely preserved. Grade: Excellent (EX), nicer than typical VG+ copies.
