Description
Early D.C. hardcore band The Faith released on Dishcord records, catalog# Dischord 11. Pink Vinyl and cover are Near-Mint with insert. $4.00 postpaid on back. Out of Print. - Check out my other Faith Lp for sale along with other Dishcord / Punk records.
BIO: The fall of 1981 found the Washington, DC punk scene in one of the first of many fallow periods when a number of active bands broke up at the same time. SOA, Minor Threat, Red C and The Untouchables had all split up, and this resulted in a number of the musicians reorganizing. Mike and Ivor from SOA (Ivor had taken over the drums for Simon towards the end of the band) formed a new band with Alec of The Untouchables singing and another Wilson High School kid, Chris Bald, on bass. They called themselves 'The Faith' and played their first show at H.B. Woodlawn High School in November '81. Eddie of The Untouchables joined Faith at the beginning of 1983 to play second guitar. While Minor Threat is often held up as the preeminent DC band of the early years, for many of the people living here it was with the Faith that they felt the strongest connection, and it was a sad day when they played their last show.
REVIEW: Faith had the misfortune of being a very good hardcore band living in the shadow of a great one, with a sibling connection that made comparisons inevitable. But from the beginning, Faith took a different, more introspective approach to hardcore and never really aspired to the scene- defining anthems of Minor Threat. The group formed in 1981 from the remains of first-wave DC bands S.O.A. and the Untouchables; its members would go on to countless other projects, including Ignition, the Warmers, Embrace, Manifesto, Rites of Spring and One Last Wish.
Subject to Change benefits from the addition of a second guitarist, Eddie Janney, who joined in late 1982. The record is both lyrically and musically deeper than the first, and the songs emerge more as questions than complaints.
