FAMILY, ‘FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT’ VERY RARE 1969 UK STEAM BOAT REPRISE RECORDS VINYL LP + POSTER, CAT No, RSLP 6340.
Family were an English rock band that formed in late 1966 and disbanded in October 1973. Their style has been characterised as progressive rock, as their sound often explored other genres, incorporating elements of styles such as folk, psychedelia, acid, jazz fusion and rock and roll. The band achieved recognition in the United Kingdom through their albums, club and concert tours and appearances at festivals. The band's rotating membership throughout its relatively short existence led to a diversity in sound throughout their different albums. Family are also often seen as an unjustly forgotten act, when compared with other bands from the same period and have been described as an "odd band loved by a small but rabid group of fans". Despite most of their recordings being issued in the US, the band never achieved any appreciable success there. The band signed with the Reprise Records label (the first UK band signed directly to UK and US Reprise.
This album, their follow up to Music in a Doll’s House is an original first pressing on the three colour Reprise, Steam Boat Record Labels, and comes in it’s original front laminated three flipback Sleeve with large rare poster.
Both sides of the Record Labels are in beautiful Mint Minus condition, a superb and beautiful set of record labels, with just a couple of play signs.
Side 1 matrix: RSLP 6340A-2 #T and Side 2: RSLP 6340B-2 #T.
Both sides of the heavy quality vinyl LP are in outstanding Mint Minus condition, with just a couple of light surface hairlines.
Play Quality:
Both sides of the LP play with a superb faultless sound quality.
The original front laminated picture sleeve is in overall Excellent condition, there are no seam splits, handwriting or tearing, showing only mild LP storage to the front panel and a few laminate pinches, all edges and the spine edge are undamaged.
The original, large and very rare double sided poster has a small tear to the top, and staining on the lyric side at the top right corner, (see scan) otherwise a nice example, the poster measures 33” x 22”.
A superb example of this very scarce Original UK LP from Family.
