FRIARS SOCIETY ORCHESTRA - later, THE NEW ORLEANS RHYTHM KINGS were a pivotal ensemble in early jazz, the next advance on the Original Dixieland Jazz Band. From their first session in 1922, here is their premiere recording of "FAREWELL BLUES," an instant classic, and some exotica, "ORIENTAL."
The famous group's personnel included: PAUL MARES, cornet / GEORGE BRUNIES, trombone / LEON RAPPOLO, clarinet / JACK PETTIS, tenor sax / LOU BLACK, banjo / ARNOLD LOCOYANO, bass / FRANK SNYDER, drums.
This original 1922 Gennett 4966 is in solid V condition. This record has even wear, and scratches. The music comes clearly through.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care.
