Description

Extremely scarce 1972 UK private label school/college album that consists mainly of some amazing female vocal folk tracks, with occasional sparse accompaniment and a creepy, gothic atmosphere very similar to the Wicker Man soundtrack. 

 

Four of the 14 tracks feature folk club guitarist/singer Patrick Nelson, with the girls providing backing vocals on two of the songs, but the real meat here is in the remaining ten tracks, all with stunning lead female vocals.  Includes some superb versions of British folk songs, with spellbinding interpretations of ‘Echo Song’, ‘Marie’s Wedding’, ‘The Praties’, ‘Dream Angus’ and a fabulous ‘Summer Is Icumen In’, all of which would have fitted perfectly on the Wicker Man soundtrack.  Judge for yourself via the following sound links:

Housed in a striking b/w front cover design depicting hand-drawn scenes from village life including the local church and graveyard.  At least as rare as the Chelmsford County High School Folk Group LP, and far rarer (and much better!) than the likes of Reality From Dream and Seven-Sided Dice. 

 

Sleeve and disc are both in strong Ex condition.
